Abstract:This paper describes a proposal for a standard to store the results of dynamic systems simulations in form of time series data persistently on file. The reasons to develop such a standard are explained, as well as the decision to use the HDF5 file format as a basis. The meta-information to be stored on file is mainly deduced from the Functional Mockup Interface standard. Two variants are analyzed: Storing the meta-data either with a set of tables or in a hierarchy. Usability and performance measurements are utilized for the selection.
