| Abstract: | The paper deals with the ways an advanced digital technology like GPS (Global Positioning System) is integrated with the mundane practices of wayfinding and moving on foot. I will use N Katherine Hayles take on the concept cognisphere: ”The cognisphere gives a name and shape to the globally interconnected cognitive systems in which humans are increasingly embedded.” The concept deals with the ways that humans and machines are co-existing in complex systems of data flows. Then, how can the ideas about a cognisphere be related to the anthropologist Tim Ingold’s discussions about bodily mobility, walking and cognition? Use of digital media like GPS devices puts the ideas about cognition and mobility in a new light. |
