Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

The series Linköping Electronic Conference Proceeding publish Open Access conference articles and conference proceedings and all articles and proceedings are published by Linköping University Electronic Press.

As a publisher we uphold certain ethical principles regarding, confidentiality, originality and intellectual fair play. The following fundamental codes of conduct thus apply for the different actors involved in the publication process:

Responsibilities of the Editors

  • All articles, published in the series, must be peer reviewed and the editor must make sure that the referees are capable of evaluating the text in a component, objective and unbiased manner.
  • It rests with the editors to keep the author’s identity hidden from the referee(s).
  • It is the editors’ responsibility to decide whether to accept or reject an article, supported by the reports from reviewers.
  • The decision to publish an article will be based solely on the quality of the article, regardless of the author’s race, gender, nationality or any other individual characteristics.
  • The editor will follow the recommendation of the referee(s) as far as possible and be able give a proper motivation if s/he goes against the referee(s).
  • The editors will give the author access to the reviews on which the publishing decision is based.
  • As Linköping University Electronic Press and Linköping Electronic Conference Proceeding is an Open Access publisher and series the editors’ will make sure that its content shall be accessible to anyone free of charge.

Responsibilities of the Authors

  • It is the authors’ responsibility to guarantee the text is their original work and free from plagiarism in any form.
  • It is the authors’ responsibility to secure permission to use any copyrighted material included in the text, when necessary.
  • If the article already is published by another publisher it is the author’s responsibility to ensure that there are no conflicts regarding the copyright and that the author has the publisher permission to publish the article by LiU E-Press.
  • The authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others that this has been appropriately cited or quoted. Plagiarism takes many forms, from ‘passing off’ another’s paper as the author’s own paper, to copying or paraphrasing substantial parts of another’s paper (without attribution), to claiming results from research conducted by others. Plagiarism in all its forms constitutes unethical publishing behaviour and is unacceptable.
  • Articles shall be free from racist or sexist language.
  • If an article is funded by external sources, those shall be mentioned in relation to the text.
  • It is up to each author to guarantee that the published research has been conducted in compliance with whatever ethical norms might apply for that particular research in the country where it has been undertaken.
  • As a general rule every article shall include contact information in the form of an e-mail address to at least one corresponding author.
  • When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.
  • All authors should disclose in their manuscript any financial or other substantive conflict of interest that might be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project should be disclosed.

Responsibilities of Reviewers

  • A reviewer must notify the editors in any conflicts of interest that may arise.
  • A reviewer must notify the editors if s/he can identify the author(s) of a manuscript.
  • A reviewer must not distribute the manuscript or disclose any findings from the article without permission from editors or authors
  • Reviewers must evaluate articles only for their intellectual content.

Responsibilities of the Publisher

  • We publish full scientific articles either as a complete proceeding and/or as separate article put together as a proceeding, where each article has its own permanent link.
  • The publisher guarantees the accessibility to the articles and proceeding from the publishing date.
  • The publisher reserve the right to un-publish an article violating the rules.

Publish a Conference Proceeding and conference articles

All articles, published in the series Linköping Electronic Conference Proceedings, must be peer reviewed by independent reviewers.

Linköping Electronic Conference Proceedings is ranked in the Norwegian list of Scientific Journals, series and publishers as level 1.

LiU E-Press offers two possible ways of handling the publishing:

  1. Only publish the conference electronically, the same day the conference takes place or on a specific date after the conference.
  2. Publish both electronically and as paper copies. (If you choose paper copies LiU E-Press can help you out with the layout and printing work through our co-operation with the printing office LiU-Tryck.)

Instructions How to Publish

  • All articles should be sent to us as pdf files together with the complete proceeding ready for publishing, by the editor for a given conference.
  • All articles should be page numbered and at the page foot the conference name should be stated.
  • The complete conference proceeding must consist of title pages with information about the conference name, place, date, the conference editor(s) and table of contents. If available the organizing, program committee and the sponsors should be in the title pages.
  • Metadata about the articles must be filled in using an Excel file and sent to us together with the articles and the complete proceedings.

We have created two different templates in Word format: one column and two columns which can be downloaded from our page with templates

  • In order to avoid a lot of paperwork we prefer not to handle signed copyright agreements. Instead we strongly advise a conference organizer, on a conference’s homepage to inform the conference participants/authors that by sending in their work to the conference editors they agree to publish their work electronically at Linköping University Electronic Press.

  • If the above solution is not possible, it is possible to send us a signed copyright agreements (we provide the organizer/editor(s) with the form to be sent out to the authors). The agreement must be signed by at least the corresponding author with the agreement of any co-authors. The agreement can be sent to us by ordinary mail, fax to +46 13 28 4424 or scanned and sent to us via e-mail E-Post

  • All authors retain the copyright when publishing at Linköping University Electronic Press. For more information about copyright see our copyright page.
