The Conference on Service Design and Service Innovation; ServDes; is the premier research conference for exchanging knowledge within service design and service innovation. It is a bi-annual event to bring researchers and practitioners together to discuss; share and evolve the emerging discipline of service design; and design-related service innovation. Papers are double-blind peer-reviewed and published with an open access publisher. Service design as a field has established itself as a strong discipline; through efforts in practice and academia. However; publications have mainly focused on establishing service design. There is a growing need for original research on service design. The ServDes conference is an answer to this call.

The 2012 conference was held 8-10 February in Espoo Finland. The conference theme was Co-Creating Services; which refers to the fact that services in a designerly manner are co-created as well as the fact that value is co-created in a service process.
